Sometimes life’s challenges get on top of us and we feel the need to talk them through with someone independent of family and friends. It is my intention to create the right environment and conditions to explore more fulfilling and harmonious ways of living, feeling and being.

Exploring these issues in a private, confidential and safe space with a professional therapist helps people to find inner freedom and effective, satisfying ways of living.

“There is no growth without pain and conflict, and no loss that cannot lead to gain.”

    Lily Pincus - German psychoanalyst

  • PSYCHOTHERAPY and COUNSELLING

“The range of what we think and feel and do and say is limited by what we fail to notice. And because we fail to notice that we fail to notice, there is little we can do to change until we notice.”

    R D Laing - Scottish psychiatrist

    What is the difference?

There isn’t a sharp distinction between counselling and psychotherapy, but counselling tends to be shorter term and concerned with specific problems, while psychotherapy usually lasts for longer, and includes the exploration of what underlies the way we are.

    What to expect?

The first contact is by telephone where I briefly assess if what I offer is suitable for you. We then set up a meeting so we get a sense of each other.

After this we arrange 6 sessions, at the end of these we will review, to see if the sessions are being of value to you before continuing.

Psychotherapy lasts for as long as the client and psychotherapist together feel it to be worthwhile. This can range from several weeks to several years for deeper work.

  • “The notion I had of what therapy was about turned out to be quite different from what I actually experienced. The sessions I had with Alannah over the course of several years were incredibly supportive and worthwhile at a very challenging time in my life. I found the process transformative.”

    Annie W – Hounslow

  • What is a constellation?

Constellations can be done at a workshop, or individually.

In a group, participants have the opportunity to set up and work within their own family system, using other participants in the group to be representatives for their family members. Through the direct experiences of the representatives, hidden dynamics usually come to light that uncover unrecognised legacies in the family field.

This opens the way to life-supporting and enhancing solutions.

  • …..“I began very cynical about this workshop and am amazed by what I experienced. What came into view through the representatives was an incredibly accurate portrayal of events.”

    Marit B – Somerset …….

  • Doing Constellation work one-on-one.

Not everyone wants to work in groups or workshops. I use large different coloured felts for the client to place on the floor to represent their family members. It is surprising how much is revealed of both the family dynamics and relationships, as the family members are placed, bringing a lot of valuable information and insights.

For some twenty years I have immersed myself in Systemic Constellation work, and trained in this approach with Bert Hellinger, Hunter Beaumont, Albrecht Mahr, Judith Hemming, Stephan Hausner, Franz Ruppert and other leading figures in this field. This systemic therapy is a natural addition and extension of the seminars, workshops and individual work that I have undertaken.

    Jalaluddin Rumi.

    “Out of the past…

    in the present……

    towards the future”

Psychosynthesis was conceived by the Italian psychiatrist Roberto Assagioli (1888-1974) and is a unified conception of human development and an organised system of techniques that can be applied in therapy.

Central to Assagioli's thinking is the notion of a personal self or ‘I’. The self can be described as a person’s most authentic identity, their deepest experience of being. This self is often deeply buried from childhood wounding, hidden by various social roles, masked by psychological symptoms and lost in the rush of modern living. The self is the interface between the individual and universal nature of reality. It is through the self that the individual can be in union with fellow humans and the whole of creation.
